Plywood and Fiberboard Futures Symposium Successfully Held in Dalian
On the afternoon of November 18, the "Plywood and Fiberboard Futures Symposium," hosted by the China Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA), was successfully held in Dalian. The symposium brought together over 40 guests, including representatives from leading plywood and fiberboard enterprises and futures companies, to conduct in-depth exchanges on how the futures market can serve the high-quality development of the wood industry, injecting new momentum into the deep integration of China's wood industry and financial instruments. Guests attending and addressing the event included Li Jiafeng, President of CTWPDA, and Wang Yufei, Deputy General Manager of the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE).
Li Jiafeng, President of CTWPDA, delivered the opening speech. He affirmed the futures market's role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of the wood industry, emphasized the importance of optimizing resource allocation and enhancing the industry's risk resistance capacity through the linkage between futures and spot markets, and called on all parties in the industrial chain to actively participate in market development.
Subsequently, a representative from the relevant commodity department of the Dalian Commodity Exchange gave a special presentation on the "Operational Status of Plywood and Fiberboard Futures," systematically reviewing the current futures market's functions, participating entities, and future optimization directions, providing a reference for enterprises to better utilize futures instruments. The ensuing discussion session became the focus of the symposium. Participants engaged in lively discussions centered around four major topics: "Increasing Futures Market Liquidity," "Contract Design and Delivery Optimization," "The Impact of National Standard Revisions on Futures," and "Recommendations for Long-term Industry Development." They addressed market challenges while putting forward several constructive suggestions.
Wang Yufei, Deputy General Manager of the Dalian Commodity Exchange, delivered the concluding speech. She stated that the DCE will continue to deepen cooperation with industry associations and industrial enterprises, using the futures market as a link to promote deep integration of futures and spot markets, thereby supporting the stable operation and high-quality development of the wood industry chain. She also expressed anticipation for all parties to jointly participate in market construction and share development opportunities.
Through policy interpretation, experience sharing, and practical discussions, this symposium built a communication bridge between industry and finance, clarifying the direction for better serving the real economy through plywood and fiberboard futures. Looking ahead, with the improvement of market mechanisms and increased enterprise participation, the ecosystem integrating futures and spot markets in the wood industry is expected to further mature, injecting stronger momentum into the industry's high-quality development.
